"Premium Carbon Fiber Black" cost $50 more and the website doesn't say anything about the difference between with "Premium" and without.

What's the difference? And should I pay that extra $50?

I just wanted to add, that for the Sony Vaio S it's also annoying that you can't even be told the difference between black, carbon fiber black and gun metal. they look almost identical and you cant see any difference on their low rez screenshots.

From what I can tell, the premium finish is glossy and all-black. I agree, it's hard to tell whether it's worth extra. I decided to go for it.

premium has a coating that resists scratching whereas carbon is just CF and gets scratches.

(from what I have been told here)

It seems that you are not quite satisfied with premium. Will you switch to non-premium one if you can?

I will keep it. I had the glossy Z1, and while it was something that needed to be wiped down daily, it looks really sharp.

It's the same as the flat carbon, just with gloss. The flat carbon scratches easily, so your only other choice is gold.

I will never think about the gold one. Thank you for your opinions.

Everything VAIO Z scratches easily. Especially the lcd lids.
