What's the difference among these three?
I configure(CTO) the same spec (color, CPU, Harddrive and so on) for all these three. But the prices are a little bit different. They have same graphic card 256MB too. Does anyone know about the difference?
Another question is... Are Sony SR series good? I configure them as Z series, the only difference is DDR2(SR) and DDR3(Z) and SR even has 512 graphic memory.

SR series with ATI 4570 is better than Z if you want to play games.
-
Main differences:
Z590 - "GunMetal" palmrest, Sprint WWAN, "Official" 4GB Max. RAM support, "Official" Windows 32-bit support.
Z690 - "GunMetal" palmrest, Verizon WWAN, "Official" 4GB Max. RAM support, "Official" Windows 32-bit & 64-bit support.
Z790 - "Black" palmrest, Verizon WWAN, "Official" 8GB Max. RAM support, "Official" Windows 32-bit & 64-bit support, free Windows 7 upgrade. -
Thanks guys. Btw, which one you recommend for mobility and casual gaming.. Sony Vaio SR vs Dell Studio 14z? Both have same weight 4lbs.
SR is ddr2 and with 512 MB graphic memory, battery life is less than Dell 14z.
Dell 14z has ddr3 but only 256 MB graphic memory and no optical drive. -
DDR2 or DDR3 as main memory has no impact on performance.
Sony SR has HD4570. It's twice as fast as the 9400M in Studio 14.
If gaming is important I'd go for Sony. Dell has the edge with resolution: 1600*900.
I prefer the looks of Sony. Studio looks chunky to me. -
With the Z series you can switch off the graphics card instantaneously, since graphics cards eat up more battery life and produces more heat. The Z also generally has more battery life and is lighter. The graphics card isn't as good though, expect only casual gaming and/or gpu assisted programs.
The SR has a better graphics card and is a lot cheaper. You can't switch off the card though, and since the GPU is more powerful it has less battery life. -
From what I have been told, z790 has much faster/newer Samsung SSDs in RAID configuration that the other Zs. Not sure if that's a factor for you.

They couldn't tell you the brand of the RAM because I'm sure it changes from week to week and month to month, just like HDD's, depending on who's bringing the best prices for the quality they want. Same for all OEM's really.
As for the wireless card, Sony very very rarely strays from using straight Intel parts for their notebooks, so it'll be an Intel 5100AGN card in there for any and all of their current models. -
And of course price difference...
I bought a:
*Z590 with 2.53 GHz P9500, 4 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD, Ext. Battery for $3200
*Z690 with 2.66 GHz P9600, 4 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD for just over $3100
*Z790 with 2.80 GHz P9700, 4 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, Ext. Battery , BD-RE for just under $3100
All of them include lowest OS (since we have our own licenses), 3yr express-ship service and tax. But I think ti is a good basis for comparison, since it shows how much more one is able to get with the Z790. -
Keep in mind that the early 590s had two SSDs running striped (RAID 0), which is generally quite a bit faster than a single larger SSD. And more expensive.
The OS choices also can make a lot of difference. Most buyers probably won't have a Microsoft Select agreement or other way to add the OS of their choice to it, but have to plan for it at purchase time. Microsoft has jacked up the price on XP licenses, so buying Vista Business with XP downgrade is less affordable now than it was. -
VAIO z590/z690/z790, the difference?
