    Hey guys,

Can anyone tell me if there is any way I can download audio from sound card ? I can do it just fine on my desktop, but on my laptop no sound recorder program works. :(
The option seems missing in the Sony drivers.
    Is there any workaround ?
    Thanks in advance

Does this work for you? Never needed it myself, so don't know for sure.

Anytimer, the OP is talking about "Stereo Mix", where the sound card directly records whatever is being fed to it.

Try a different non Sony audio driver. You can try Audacity Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder

    Yes Stereo Mix

I tried Audacity but it does not work either, and I tried using Windows Default drivers also but nothing.

Do you recommend download drivers from the Realtek Website ?

    Audacity works for me.

What is your selected recording device in Audacity? MME>Microsoft sound mapper and Windows Direct Sound>Primary sound capture both work.

What do you want to record from? What are you playing the media in?

Many manufacturers have purposely disabled the ability to record the mix out of the audio cards. This was done at the behest of the record industry. They pitched a fit that we were stealing their "intellectual property". (Somehow it doesn't feel right to use the words intellectual and record industry in the same sentence.) If you mess around with it enough you can get Audacity to do what you want. But there is a much easier way, not elegant but it works.

Get a Y cable with two male ends and one female end. Plug the two male ends into the headphone out jack and the mic input jack. Plug a pair of speakers into the female end of the Y cable. Voilà', a quick and dirty defeat of the manufacturer's attempt to keep us from recording the output from our machines.

I'm using Realtek High Definition Audio 6.0.1.6028. No problems recording using Audacity and Youtube on Firefox.
