    Hey guys,

I'm flying out to Germany at the end of September and have confirmed that my seat has a power outlet (though I don't know if its a cigarette lighter, an enpower type, or an AC outlet). After doing a little research I found out that these outlets are limited to 75 watts. I'm just wondering if this will be enough to power my FW during the long flight. If so, whats the best adapter I can buy? Thanks.

Wow, the title was so intense. Sounds like like a scary/geeky movie :p J/K

I'm pretty sure it's enough to run your notebook, but let's wait for someone more knowledgable than me to confirm. My input in this subject is that power adapters/convertors on plains are pretty limited. So if you don't have your own cigarette lighter/power adaptor, ask for one as soon as you board. I made the mistaking of waiting till after take off and had to pay the consiquences. 8 hours of no sort of decent flight entertainment!

"I've had it with these [dooking] Vaios on this [dooking] plane!" :D

And to answer your question, I'm pretty sure the stock FW adapter is a 90watt, so that may be stretching it a bit.

Outside of the ultraportables (i.e. G/TZ/U), most of the Vaios are 90W. Will 75W work? Probably but you run the chance of possibly causing damage.

This page/site should have all the info you need! :D

I would borrow one from the flight instead of purchasing your own adapter as they are fairly expensive.

PS. I will have to edit out that comment above... :p I did laugh out loud at it but unfortunately the kids will screem at that! :D

LOL. No worries. I had to tho. :D

And to keep with the topic, OP, I will say I have used a 90watt powered laptop with a 75watt power inverter in the car for about 2 hours with no damage. However, I honestly don't recommend doing it for very long.

Did a little more digging and it turns out the Apple magsafe travel adapter powers the laptop but doesent charge the battery. Seeing as the magsafe AC adapter is 85W maybe there is something similar that would work for the FW?
