Has anyone managed to get the VCC2 camera to show up in My Computer or Cameras and Scanners under Vista. I am aware that the camera appears to work using the XP driver, Vista camera utility and Vista camera capture app, and have tried this myself. A how too would be appreciated.

It doens't show up in Camers and Scanners for some reason. What is the reason you need it to show up there? Apps can use it fine. i.e. It works great with Skype, AIM, Yahoo, etc.

See the link to the thread in my signature for more details.

At the moment I can't give you a specific reason for the missing icons, other than it does not look right. One would think this could be fixed with a couple of registry entries. OTOH, there could be something wrong like a memory leak or security problem which has delayed the release of this driver.

In the last few days there have been a few new driver releases, perhaps his one will follow soon. However, the US Sony driver page for XP on my SZ330PB does not contain several items essential for a clean install of XP. You have to get the drivers off the vaio-link site and patch XP from ryanvm for the hotfixes, so who knows. It could be a while, and someone might have to post the updated driver after the express upgrade DVD's ship.

Thanks for the tutorial. My method is to use the utillities from the SZ450N. It installs a bunch of stuff at once, and in the right order.

The VCC2 XP driver isn't completely compatible with Vista. Until Sony releases a Vista driver, it won't appear in the Scanners and Cameras list. If you want the camera to appear in My Computer and launch the camera utility though, you can use this registry file:

Just what I was looking for. So where did that gem come from?
