I am trying to get my laptop to display onto my LCD TV using a VGA cable which i had done without any problems using my previous dell laptop, 700m, but on my new one VAIO SR220, the tv just has a blue screeen with the words out of range in small print. Any way to get the signal to go through? The cable is only about 4 ft long, so it isnt going some huge distance. Please help.

You might need to reconfigure your LCD TV to work with the Sony. Try going through the settings again?

    cheers ...

have you tried looking at your laptop's videocard advanced control panel? sounds like you might need to adjust the refresh rate "hz" to match your lcd. standard is usually 60hz I think.

I know on my SR hdmi out, I had to play around with overscan settings to get it display correctly

What's you laptop LCD resolution, what is maximum TV resolution? If your laptop has high resolution and you try to mirror your display to TV through VGA, it may be higher resolution than TV can support and you'll get that "Signal out of range." You may want to either expand your desktop to second display and set resolution for that display separately, or you can bring laptop LCD resolution down to match your TV and then you'll be able to mirror.

Oh I forgot to mention, when using an external display with a different res, try turning off the laptop display and only using external output. Fn-F7 to toggle modes. (internal / both / external).
