So, someone here had a Sony Vaio without the OEM discs. I did a clean install of XP since it was all screwed up, and activated XP, and got all the drivers downloaded from Sony. Now, this has worked plenty of times on non-Sony laptops. Upon loading the drivers, two drivers didn't work (DVD drive and graphics driver).

I called Sony about this and asked to order the OEM discs but made me go through support. Support says because I did a non-OEM install that the drivers won't work and they'll need to make the drivers compatible. How do they do this? So, they ask me then to pay them $200 and I said no, and then $150 and I said no, and then $80, which I'm thinking "Well, it's company time and money - it's probably worth $80", BUT what is that all about?!?

There's 6 other Vaio's here (not a lot, but still). Can I do this myself? Are they just not telling me that I can order OEM discs? What do others do?
