For anyone who has the VGN-A190 whats the battery life like on it? Does it play games well with the 1.7pm and 9700 64mb? Does it got hot easily? Or are Sony notebooks not really aimed towards playing games like Doom 3?

Doom 3 plays just fine on my VGN-A190. Heat? I have yet to feel this thing get above "Warm to the touch". In all of my benchmarks, the 1.7GHZ 735 P-M is comparable to a P-4 at 2.4GHZ... without the heat and still gets longer battery life(average 3.2 hours run time). The ATI 9700 runs everything I have thrown at it... so far.

OT, the screen is intense! [ :D]

    dadkins,

Have you adjusted any settings on your A190 for Doom3 to play successfully? On my A170P, Doom3 freezes a couple of minutes into the game (Task Manager showing 100% processor usage).

Nope. Didn't change a thing(display wise), just installed the game and played as is. I did change the controller setup to my gamepad, but I doubt that did anything to the screen... Did you patch Doom 3?

Yes, I did patch Doom3 and still suffer from the same issue. Even tried disabling a large number of background processes without success. I'm stumped.
