    Hi...

Firstly I'd like to say that this forum and its members have already helped solve a number of niggling issues since my clean upgrade to Windows 7 (32bit) - thank you all! :)

In terms of Sony software I have installed:

    Sony Shared Library
    VAIO Event Service
    VAIO Control Centre
    VAIO Power Management
    VAIO Smart Network
    Wireless Switching Utility
    Nvidia drivers from www.laptopvideo2go.com
Latest drivers available from Sony FTP site

However I still have a number of problems that I just can't seem to resolve, which are:

    1) Wireless Switching Utility and Bluetooth: I've installed the latest Intel wifi and ALPS bluetooth drivers plus the latest Wireless Switching utility from the Sony FTP site. The problem I have is that the switching utility doesn't list the Bluetooth device and whenever I got into it both 2.4 and 5Ghz adapters are ticked.

Added to this when I disable the Bluetooth adapter within Device Manager the blue light next to the WLAN switch remains lit - am I missing a Sony utility/driver that controls this?

I was hoping to go into the BIOS (apologies don't have the version at this time) and turn off the Bluetooth radio but the Phoenix BIOS is very limited, literally system time, boot order and BIOS password! :( Is there a way of getting into a more advanced BIOS screen that allows you to modify the installed hardware?

    2) Internet Connection Speeds: After my initial install I downloaded various driver packages without issue (but didn't install straight away), when I then attempted to download some additional software the speeds dropped off considerably. I reboot the laptop and Thompson Speedtouch wireless router and tested my connection speed at www.speedtest.net. Initially I was getting my usual 2.5Mbps but later in the evening this dropped off to 0.5Mbps.

Disabling and re-enabling the wireless adapter (via the front switch) briefly resolved the problem but now I'm consistently getting 0.5Mbps no matter what I do (installing newer, older wireless drivers, older versions of the Switching app, removing unwanted features from the wifi adapter e.g. IPv6, QoS etc.). Over the LAN adapter plugged into the same router my internet speeds are as expected.

Google searchs have returned numerous posts relating to Windows 7 and slow internet connection speeds and I will be trying a variety of suggestions tonight to see if any work e.g.

    - Altering duplex speed and Flow Control on the wifi adapter
    - Turning off Remote Differential Compression
    - Checking and altering TCP/IP settings via: netsh int tcp

Any help on these issue would be gratefully received.
