    First time posting here.

I have a VGN-C140G/B notebook and under device manager it shows that it has a Bluetooth module, but there is no software or button to turn it on. Has anyone been successful in getting this to work. Sony claims that it doesnt ship with any BT.

    Please help.

    Thx

Here is the latest driver -
    http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNC140GB&upd_id=2293&os_id=16
To make sure your PC is recognizing the bluetooth properly-
Click the Start button, then click Control Panel.
In the Control Panel window, under Pick a category, click Network and Internet Connections.
In the Network and Internet Connections window, under or pick a Control Panel icon, click Bluetooth Devices.
In the Bluetooth Devices window, on the Devices tab, click to select the appropriate device.
    Click the Properties button.
In the Device Properties window, click the Services tab.
On the Services tab, click to select the box next to the service to activate.
    Click the OK button.
In the Bluetooth Devices window, click the OK button

I still don't see it in Control Panel. There is a Wireless utility that is suppose to have the BT check box but it is missing.

After messing with this for several hours, I don't think that this model has a Bluetooth radio built in. The reference in the device manager and presenc e on the download page must have something to do with installing the Toshiba stack for if and when you ever get a Bluetooth USB dongle.

I know it has a spot for the BT icon to light up next to WLAN, but I think that is probably for models that use the same case and have it.

For the record, Sony is one of the worst tech companies on the planet, and I wouldn't touch their products if it were not for my company having purchased it (They aren't the brightest...buying MCE computers that need to join a domain...pure genius...good thing I knew where to find the reg 'fix').

Ok so i went ahead and got a BT USB dongle and it didnt make a diff on the BT Icon or the Wireless function software to give me BT option. I think its there but disable somewhere in the BIOS that we cant unlock. Why else would they add the Icon there and its on the hardware? What is this reg fix you mention? I have been trying to use RDP and I cant get it to connect?

I called tech support when I got this laptop and they said it does not have a bluetooth radio. The drivers is for the built in bluetooth antenna.. I had to talk to 3 different tech support people to get that response..
Does your bluetooth usb device work even though it doesn't show up in the sony app?

Yes, it works fine on my other PC. Whats the point in putting in a antenna when it doesnt have a BT radio? Makes no sense.

Makes not sense to me either. They never advertised bluetooth on their website so I should have known better.
