I restored my girlfriends laptop as her restore cd's from sony dont work I installed a clean version of vista on her laptop. The only issue now is that after installing the drivers off the Sony website he computer wont read CD's at all now. everything I installed I had to make a dvd copy of the CD. If anyone has any suggestion I would appreciate them.

Try going to Device manager and remove (Uninstall Drivers) the CD/DVD drive. Then do a Rescan for Hardware changes. It will reinstall the drivers on its own and it should work. I had a similar situation on my old C220E model, it wont just read any dvd or CD. Once I did that, it worked for me.

I clicked uninstall driver and restarted as vista wanted and still comes back the same way

Not sure what my next step should be
