I am thinking about buying this laptop. I just want to make sure it is the right one for me though. I want something that can handle music, the usual word documents for school and stuff, photoshop/illustrator, some gaming?, and browsing the internet? I loaded this computer up and it was like 2580. Somewhere around there.

    VGN-FE690
    15.4" WXGA XBRITE-HiColor™ with built-in camera
    NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600
    160 GB Hard Disk Drive
    No Movie Pack
Intel Core Duo Processor T2600 (2.16 GHz)
    2 GB DDR-SDRAM (DDR2-533, 1 GBx2)
Wireless LAN (802.11a\b\g) and Bluetooth Technology
    DVD+-R Double Layer DVD+-RW Drive
    Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
    Microsoft Works 8.5
Microsoft Works 8.5 with Office 2003 "Student Teacher" Trial Edition
    Large Capacity Lithium-ion Battery (BPL2C)

So is it good for what I want or not? I have a $2800 budget. I was looking at the xps but I want a 15.4 or bigger screen. The 17 inch one seemed to much? Anyways any help is great. Thanks

    Great notebook.
But a litlle bit to much size in my opinion.
Sony Sz have exectly right size, for good transportation. Little bit biger its not so good in transportation.
Even from bed room, to living room. In cafe too so big device little bit difficul to take. Sony Sz easy.
But VGN-FE690 maybe better if you plan to use your notebook in replacement to desktop.

Down tune the processor to T2400, saves u a lot of money, in my opinion, the T2600 cost 2 much. Aftermarket the memory stick 2. I think both added up can save u bout 600usd.
