I upgraded my VGN-FE770G to Windows Vista Home Premium and everything works fine excpet for my audio. One part of my computer is telling me that I have no audio device installed, but when I go to my device manager and click on the Sigma Tel High Definition Audio CODEC it says that my device is installed and running properly????

I have downloaded the Audio Driver from esupport but it has not helped fix my problem. I would be indebted for the rest of my life to anyone that can help me fix this problem without having to wait 2 months so that I can get the driver pack from sony.

Thanks and hope to here from someone soon!!!!

    Angela :)

    Hi Angela,
I have a VGN-AR170G and upgraded to vista ultimate, exact same problem.
Have tried about evrything I could think of, including a new clean vista nstallation, didn't solve the problem.
If I find a solution I'll post it

Starting the mid of May 2007, a CD can be ordered at your cost to resolve issues with Windows Vista.

I'm having the same problem with my Sigma Tel audio driver, but I have not upgraded to Vista. I have a gateway laptop model mx6956. it is an intermittent problem, sometimes it says i have no audio...and sometimes it's on. Just today i started getting a message about a system32.dill file needs to close and i think it's related to the sound. any clues on what i should do? thanks!!

I'm having a similar problem on a SZ360P which is still running XP. If I re-install the SigmaTel Audio Codex it works until I reboot and then I need to install the driver again to make it work.

I was going to upgrade to Vista next week hoping that it would solve this problem. Doesn't sound promising. There are several new post around that are having similar problems, wondering if a recent windows update has triggered something in the Sigmatel codex. It doesn't sound like its strictly a Sony problem as some Dell's are having a similar problem.

use automatic update to search for the updates for your windows vista and it should work. my ibm laptop has this exact same problem and it fixed after the windows update.

but my vaio fe770 sound is running fine though on vista ultimate.
