I upgraded the OS to Windows 7 professional x64 several months ago, at that time sony had not provided the drivers yet, but still Win7 recognized most of the devices and I've tried to install the drivers for other OS, most the installations were incomplete but somehow some of the multi-media buttons worked except for the AV MODE button, one more problem is the volume buttons can not work as properly as before, the max volume is not as loud as it use to be, and even when I reduce the volume to minimum, I can still here something.

And for the touch pad, the pointing and tapping work fine, but it can no longer scroll the page when you touch the right and bottom side of it.

Now I can see a list of diferent drivers on SONY's website, but they are so confusing, I chatted with one of their ppl and he said my computer has very severe problems and I need to pay $70 so they can fix it, I don't really believe him coz my computer runs fine and actually faster than the previous OS came from SONY, I just want to fix the volume problem and make the touch pad working, does anyone here know which one of the driver softwares I need to install from the list they provide on their website?

    Welcome to the forums.
    1. Touch pad - download and install the Original Vista version that came with your laptop (assuming Vista Home Premium 64 bit). That driver works fine.
(BTW I have the FW 285 series so know these work)
    2. The On screen display is a bit more fun. You'll need these files installed in this order to get those working:
    a. Sony Shared Library
    b. Notebook Control and Utilities
    c. Notebook Utilities
Installing these may require several reboots (after each one if remember right.)
That should resolve both your problems.
    Good luck.

    Thanks J&SinKTO
I installed the touch pad driver for vista64, it really worked. But for the Sony Shared Library and Control and Utilities, none of them worked, I tried to change the properties setting and run them as administrator and I also tried to change the compatibility, they all stopped working (quit by themself) after the system check, I don't know why...

yes, that's where I downloaded all the dirvers, most of them didn't work, like the pic I showed in my previous reply, nearly all of them quit by themselves after that step.

What (if any) Vaio utilities do you have installed?
That might give us a clue as to why those won't install. May need to unistall the utilities and re-load them in order. Sony is very particular about the sequence to make the special buttons and function keys work.
