Hi everybody,
I've recently downgraded from VISTA to XP, all drivers working fine except audio driver. Whenever I plug any headphones pc speakers doesn't turn off. I've installed all the hotfixes, but I simply can't turn them off, even manually. I've resigned to find out any solution that would turn off speakers automatically. Does anybody know about some application that would allow me to turn off just the speakers.
I appreciate any kind of HELP.
Thanks a lot
Matt

For some reason Sony chose to use software to mute the speakers when using headphones, rather than the normal approach of a hardware switch in the headphone jack itself. Odd.
But the issue with not muting the speakers has been reported here under Vista as well, and if memory serves it required reinstalling the drivers. So, that begs the question: what audio drivers are YOU using? Did you get the Sony supplied ones or a third party driver for XP?

Thanks for your reply Gary.
I'm using SigmaTel WinXP drivers (STDAUD-01108005-UN.exe), as far as Sony support doesn't provide XP drivers for FZ240 I found this driver together with hotfixes fo HD audio in one thread related to the same problem I currently experience, so it's a third party driver. I have no idea where I could get official XP drivers for my audio. In Vista OS everything goes smooth.

I think there are now XP drivers from Sony as well. Use the search at the VERY TOP of the page and search for "FZ XP" without the quotes.
