    Hi

i bought a used VGN-FZ38M a few months ago that had a faulty battery. I knew this prior to purchase but got the laptop for a really good price so wasn't too bothered.

Anyways, it came with vista 32 bit on it which i'm not a fan of so i bought a windows 7 home premium disc with both the 32 & 64 bit versions included.

I installed win 7 64 bit about 1 month ago & it's been totally fine & i've been just running the laptop from the mains adapter.

I finally decided to order a battery last week so bought a replacement from an online store. It came today along with a drivers disc.

After trying to instal the drivers i get a message telling me it won't run with my 64 bit bios.

I really don't want to have to mess about installing the 32 bit version so I was wondering if anybody knows of a way to fix this?

    thanks

    Craig

Is this one of those dodgy no-name batteries that come with some sort of BIOS hack, to try and prevent the system refusing to use it because it's not genuine?

If you can return it for a refund, do so.

I would advise never to use non-OEM batteries.

i've emailed the seller explaning my problems. I can't see how they can refuse a refund as they stated it worked with windows 7 but didn't state nly with 32 bit version
