    Hello,

I noticed some ppl here ("Sandstorm83" for example) have been successful in getting one of the cheap eBay knockoff batteries working with their VGN-NR498D. I recently ordered a replacement BPS-9 and to start with, the included BIOS upgrade program wasn't successful on my pre-installed 32-bit Vista. Via another thread here, I found another site ( Brand New Replacement Batteries) and used their BIOS upgrade which appeared to complete successfully but when I install the generic battery, the orange battery LED blinks and the battery status remains "51% charged, plugged in, not charging". Once I shut down the laptop, if I attempt to turn the laptop back on, the battery LED blinks and nothing happens. The laptop won't power on again until I remove the knock-off battery. From what I understood, I thought this meant the battery compatibility check is done in h/w and no BIOS upgrade will allow this battery to be used, but I've seen others here have been successful in getting them to work on their VGN-NR498Ds, so I'm stumped.

I've gone through the typical steps of removing ISBMgr.exe and removing the battery and charger from the Devices list all to no avail. I've begun the process of getting a refund for this battery, but if anyone can help, I'd prefer to keep this as Sony no longer sells the BPS-9 batteries, even at their inflated prices.

    Thanks,
    SWK

    Dear SWK,

From your description, I suppose that your battery's driver was the second version, some laptop models weren't supported by this driver version.

But the battery not buy from us, so we can't give more suggestion to you.

For our batteries, if can't recognize by laptop or can't charge after upgrade driver, our engineers suggest install the driver again with your original battery.

The newest driver is third version, compatible with all vgn-nr series batteries.

If any more questions, please don't hesitate to contact us!
