This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    VGN-S5M/S upgrade to Windows 8

    I've completed the upgrade and most things all work fine, except the display, which only detects a No Generic PnP Monitor and is fixed at 1024 x 768, so is all a bit grainy.

    Is there any advice about how to resolve this?

    It's running great, and so far is very fast compared to XP.
