I have this notebook and have a fast blink from the battery light on computer. The original battery stopped working and I purchased a generic replacement. The notebook did run off of the generic battery, but refuses to charge it. When the original Sony battery died, the notebook acted like there was no battery installed.

Is the machine bad, or do I just need a genuine Sony battery?

Also, can I run this macine w/ a docking station and leave the battery in? Will this kill the battery?

    Thanks,
    JS

yea sony has some thing where you can only use a genuine sony battery, there are ways around it though. and i'm pretty sure you can leave it in while docked and it wont do any harm
