    Hi all,

I bought the VAIO VGN-SZ28GP mid last year. Around the Xmas last year, ie roughtly after half a year, the battery went dead. I can't turn on the laptop unless I use the AC power. After I turned it on, the Windows XP said the battery is not present.

I went to the Sony service centre and lucky still within a year warranty, they replaced a new one for me without charge.

Now after another 6 months, this new battery dead again with the same thing!!

Has anyone have a similar problem before? I'm worry it's the laptop somehow causing the battery dead? If so, how? Under what circumstances will it kill the battery???

Yes, it's a known issue...you need the 3 pronged AC adapter.

When this happened to my former SZ260P/C, Sony sent a brand new battery and a 3 pronged adapter cable and all was well again.... :D
