Welp... i knew this was recalled on so many laptop/notebooks but sony did not do a recall on their products.. which kinda pissed me off because now after 2 years, my 8400m GS finally bit the dust... heres pics:

I guess it doesn't matter because I do not play videogames anymore on my notebook anyways and now i can just use the "stamina" aka onboard video to use the laptop... but man.. it would have been nice if I could still played videogames on this thing every once in a while..
It does it on every OS.. Ubuntu... and my Windows 7.. so I am positive its hardware failure.. and not only that but it has screen failure up in the bio's and crap where there is no OS at all.. i am 100% sure it is hardware failure..
I think this is the last time I will own a nvidia... I had a simular problem happen to one of my nvidia graphic cards on a desktop... but that was a long time ago.. and I have switched back to ATI full time on my desktops.. and I think on my next laptop it will be ATI as well...
welp... looks like this laptop will just be another "working purpose use" laptop.... overall quality of the laptop is very good build and this is by far my favorite laptop I have ever owned build wise.. and its ruggedness has been unmatched. only real complaint other then this nvidia failing on me is that sony has prety bad software support, because I got this laptpo when vista just came out and i went thru a lot of trouble installing vista 64 bit and then windows 7 bit later... but its prety typical of sony to have really crappy software support anyways.
heres pics of it when it was new:
