Very nice, thank you for the pictures!
Paul Nugen, happy chinese new year! -
Congrats, beautiful laptop. Do you mind taking some more pictures of the lid?
-
Sure, I'll take more pics when I have time. I mean why not? Those are some quick pics that I took yesterday.
I'll probably do some pics comparison of the SZ carbon weave lid with the SZ791 carbon weave lid since I have both. However, it may be a while before I get it done as it is kinda tricky to get the weave showing on the photos & mainly because I'm very busy nowadays, trying my best to catch up with school work in grad school.
-
Would love to see some more pics of the laptop itself man. I've got an SZ 780 on order and still deciding on whether or not i really want it.
-
Nice notebook
what comes in the little blue bag you have there ?
Some1 know if the HSPDA module works on sprint only or worldwide ?
Thanks -
The blue baggies contains a multimedia card reader.
-
Can you take some pictures beside your SZ381?
Does SZ791 come with the very slim AC power adapter?
If not does this one have 3 pong?
I'm surprise Sony actually comes with a CD? I thought they make you burn you over recovery disc. My TZ91 didn't even come with one. :'(
Very nice picture tho!
-
Thanks,
According to sony site this one should support Integrated Wireless Wide Area Network .
what network does it work with ? EV-DO ? HSPDA ? -
What would you want if you DIDN'T want the SZ??
Andrew -
The 600 series came with a slimmer AC adapter then previous models so I'm assuming the 700 does too.
The CD shown is a "downgrade" disk which they offered free to all TZ100/SZ600 owners. This time around they included it probably to save on shipping costs.
@Chura: I believe with Sprint Mobile. There was a thread a while back where users were able to unlock it to use it with any network. However this was with the 200/300 series so I don't know about the newer models. -
I'm not from the states therefore i dont know what sprint use
is it UMTS? -
No, Sprint EVDO is based on CDMA.
-
Definitely will take & upload more pics but that will come a bit later though, once I have a bit more free time.
Unfortunately, the AC plug is still 2 prong.
Both are true. The SZ7 series come with the slimmer AC adapter & the included DVD is a XP downgrade disc & not a Vista backup/install disc. -
i was told that the wwan in the sz791 will work with bell canada or any canadian provider by p1, whom i just ordered from, i will check when it comes though.
-
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Nice photo's, is a review coming?
-
i thought it is locked to sprint?
u sure it will work with bell?
let us konw once u found out -
I thought the carbon weave lids look the same on all SZ models. Anyways, I am placing my order today here for the SZ791. Anyone knows what are the cosmetics differences should I expect on the SZ791 compared to my current SZ491 ?
-
I also figured the lids were the same. The only differences that I know of are: all black exterior, "vaio" song instead of "sony", webcam, and it's also a bit thicker.
A 100 series premium model is compared to a 600 series in this review: http://www.notebookreview.com/revie...astBrandID=13¤tPage=0&callingPage=&cmd= -
there is a difference in the lid, but its really hard to tell in photos.
i was told that bell will work on it wwan, but when i get it, i think this friday or so, i ll give it a try. -
There is a difference between the premium model(750-780) and the premium carbon fiber model(791), but what could be the difference between the older premium carbon fiber 381 and the current 791? What is the weave going the other way now, or something
?
-
i can only confirm the difference between the 750-780 and the 791 line-up...
however, i dont even remember what the lid of the 381 looks like, would be interesting to know though -
Here is a premium carbon fiber lid:

I've been mulling over getting a 12.1" tablet pc instead. I've been looking at the Lenovo X61t for a while now but haven't bought one cause I was waiting to see if they would upgrade the processor. But I guess that probably isn't going to happen till around May or after. I wanted the SXGA+ screen and the only option is the LV L7500 1.6Ghz.
-
The main difference is that the color of the Vaio logo is different. On my SZ381, the Vaio logo is non-shiny black, while on my SZ791, it is shiny silver.
-
Sounds to me they made the logo like the non premium versions.
-
MY SZ780 is on order too! I will wait it out, you won't be disappointed. I've done my research on laptops and for my mortgage business, that particulatar model was the best bet for the money including Sprint built in.
-
I'm also thinking of getting SZ780N
Let me know how you like yours?? -
What I have seen, that only differences between SZ780N and SZ791N is Hard Drive and RAM.
Rest everythin is same, and RAM can be upgraded for pennies, but I don't know how easy or hard it is to change RAM on these sony vaios sz series.. does any one else know?? -
Your question has be answered in http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=219165
One physical difference between the two mentioned models is the 791 has a premium carbon fiber lid which means you can actually see the weave. However both are premium models. See this: http://flickr.com/photos/palmbox/532191319/
You can also take a look at the photos the author of this thread provided

Upgrading your RAM will be a piece of cake. As for the HD refer to a disassembly guide: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=114814 -
So any reviews as to how this compares to the sz6 series?
-
Old thread, I know... but...
I read somewhere that the battery life on this model was poor ("dismal" I think it said). True? Not true??
