Hi,
A client has a Sony Vaio VGT-T150/L. I called Sony about a hard drive upgrade and they responded that there is no upgrade available for the existing 40GB 4200rpm drive.
From what I have found on the Internet, it appears that quite a few people have replaced the original VAIO drive with a higher capacity 2.5" laptop drive. It seems the biggest issue is getting to the drive itself to replace it, as it is buried in the notebook.
Before we venture into this, I would appreciate some feedback from VAIO owners on HDD upgrades, the suitability of higher capacity, higher RPM drives in the VAIO, and particularly any concerns about heat issues in such a small unit.
All help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

I thought the T Vaios used a 1.8" hard drives? Which would mean Sony is correct unless you just wanted more space. Can you provide a link to the upgrade?

I'm sure you're right. It's a small notebook. So you are saying there is larger capacity 1.8" drive, but not a faster one?

Yes, all 1.8" drives I am aware of only spin at 4200RPMs. It is one reason they can make them so small, but they have to make trade-offs.

There are higher capacity 1.8" hard drives. The T250 for example has a 60GB 1.8", and the new TX has 80GB. However, rpm is still limited to 4200.
