I have a Sony VGN-TZ11MN/N, which I recently bought at Sony Center in Germany. It comes with an 80-GB hard drive and a built-in DVD writer.
I want to know if this model supports SSD with ZIF? Does it have a separate SSD connector or does it replace the hard drive? What is the size of the hard drive (1.8 or 2.5 inches)? I have searched the Internet and can't seem to find out the exact specifications.
Thanks a lot!

YES it is possible and not that difficult. I did it myself in the TZ170. Connection is ZIF. Have a look at these directions: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=162085

I know it is possible, but what I want to know is if the SSD will REPLACE the hard drive (what is the size of the hard drive?) or if it has its own connector. I have seen that thread, but haven't found the answers to my questions. Thanks for responding, anyway.

It will replace the 80GB hard drive. If you have the DVDRW drive then that means your HDD is 1.8" form factor. Both connect with ZIF (SSD AND current HDD). Pop out old one and put in the SSD. There is no "other" space for the SSD.

I want to change my HDD too but the problem in germany is, to find the correct SSD Drive.
I look for the original SSD from Samsung. I read that Sony use this SSD in their Notebooks.

The key is that the connector is ZIF and it is a 1.8" drive. I bought SanDisk SSD off ebay. This one is what I got (and this is a GOOD price) http://cgi.ebay.com/SanDisk-SSD-Sol...ryZ42184QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Nice price! This one can I use in my TZ31?
Need I something to fix it in my Notebook? -
Yes, you will replace your current HDD, just a swap, I put one of these in my TZ170N and they are sweet!

Perfect. I thought, that I need something to fix it in my Notebook.

That was helpful. Thanks a lot.
