I have been looking for a fix to this for about a week now and tried everything...

0x800423F4 - Complete PC Backup fails with the following error code:

The writer experienced a non-transient error. If the backup process is retried, the error is likely to reoccur.

Anyone have a solution? It seems like Sony said this is an issue with all TZ1xxx models and they still don't have a solution and I dont think they ever will. Their tech support is below par and its like talking to a wall sometimes.

Any suggestions for a complete pc backup. Im going to use Norton Ghost ... i don't like the fact i have to burn a DVD each time i make a backup but thats the only way if the system failed that bad where it required a restore after a boot...

    Thanks

you can try Acronis True Image 10 for complete HDD backup. I usually do a complete image copy right after a fresh OS install with update patches and incremental backup after driver / application installation.

I just ordered a TZ and it is on its way.

Regarding ur Vista issue, I am suspecting you are trying to back up the "state" or "settings" of your OS. Try to do content backup instead and see if the error presisted.

Again, I never used the Vista backup myself so its just pure speculation.

Backing up files is not a problem. This feature is not available on Vista home. I have Vista Business and you will see the option when you go to Control Panel, then Backup and you will see Complete PC backup... I know it will not work on yours either. Mines is only 2 weeks old just got it myself its a great laptop but Vista is just too problematic.. I'm coming from an XP background and i was very reluctant to use Vista and b/c of this laptop in a way im forced to learn it.
