Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, I couldn't find anything exactly the same as my problem.
I signed up for the t-mobile web n walk deal (after using the trial sim that came with the laptop) and it works very well, except that web n walk manager has failed - when I click the desktop icon it reports that "web n walk manager has stopped working".
T-mobile cannot help - their help desk says that even though the laptop is supplied with the t-mobile software installed they are not able to support it currently ! (There is no category on the t-mobile website for my Z11WN laptop).
I believe it is a windows update that is causing the problem - I guess it may be affecting the Globetrotter drivers or something like that, because if I do a windows restore back far enough I can get the web n walk manager working again. However this is a a real pain and not something I want to keep doing.
I can connect using just a standard dial up connection but that doesn't give me any statistics or signal strength indicators.
Does anyone know how I can fix this once and for all ? I noticed in another thread that someone recommended using the Globetrotter software - can anyone advise me on whether or not that is stable after windows (Vista) updates and is it compatible with windows Vista ? I would rather try to get web n walk working properly though.
Thanks in advance
Dave

It's looking like I might be the only one with this problem on here.
To answer one of my own questions, I downloaded the Globetrotter Connect software as explained by Muuja ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=4164883#post4164883) from the Vaio ftp site.
Sadly on my laptop this does not work - it runs ok but gives me an error message at the bottom of it's window stating "device not found" - and yes I have switched on the WWAN device (Globetrotter modem) and I can also see it in Device Manager which shows everything working perfectly.
The Globetrotter Connect window does not seem to have much in the way of options, so I see no way of changing settings and the like.
Any further advice would be appreciated.

In the end I rolled my system back about 1 week from a backup or system restore and the problem was fixed. I never worked out the cause.
I am now running Win 7 beta as dual boot and I didn't bother with the T-mobile stuff, I just use the Win 7 networking to connect and accept that I don't know signal strength.
Let me know if you ever figure out a more refined fix? -
Have you removed the T-Mobile drivers? If you have not done this then remove the drivers for both and try and install Globetrotter connect again.

Thanks to Sigma and rachuk for the replies. Sigma it's good to know I'm not alone with this ! and if I find a fix then I will let you know.
Rachuk - I have just spent quite a lot of time attempting to uninstall the drivers (I uninstalled web n walk manager and that seemed to remove the drivers as well) and install the Globetrotter Connect software but whatever combination I tried I could not get Globetrotter to detect my device
Not sure what I am doing wrong, but I did seem to get in a mess - so I used System restore to go back again, so still sat here with neither web n walk or Globetrotter working.
I know there are some other threads that describe some aspects of installing Globetrotter Connect but if anyone can tell me where to find a step by step guide - first how best to uninstall the existing drivers (do I do this using device manager or just by uninstalling web n walk ?) and then what to do from there then that would be much appreciated.
One of the problems I was having after uninstalling the existing drivers was that Vista kept on trying to find new ones and couldn't find them. The Globetrotter download does not seem to come with any drivers either - so I tried reinstalling WWAN drivers from the vaio recovery facility - but that wasn't terribly successful either ! I suspect I don't have the correct drivers that go with the Globetrotter Connect software.
Thanks for your time in replying to me.

I have the same problem with the same laptop z11wn. I have the laptop several months but just wanted to start using the wwan feature with my T-Mobile dual sim. Will post my progress on this forum.

I am having a similar problem. I bought the laptop because it was so portable, however am unable to use it because web'n'walk will not install. The drivers install but software not detected and the built in software is not flexible. I really hope someone comes out with a solution because it is very frustrating - thanks for any help.

That's really dumb, to make a manager software dependent on Flash!?!?
(But then this is Sony, and as we probably all know Sony Consumer Electronics + Software = Lithium + H2O)
I must say I've not come across this problem yet. I'll try your solution when I finally bother saying OK to the updater (which always seems to pop up when I wake up the machine and am without wifi but haven't started up the 3G, so I just cancel it... a good thing now I guess, otherwise I might have been tearing my hair out!). Thanks! -
I had the exact same problem and the patch fixed everything! Yip!

All looks German to me?? Help?!

if you click the LINK button to download the patch, at the bottom of the page under the advertisement just type in the characters, hit enter, then at the bottom of the page again...there should be the real link to download the fix.
