    Hi,

we got a used VGN-Z590 with a SSD drive in. It constantly hangs and the HDD LED is on then. We want to replace this drive with a new one. I would be interested what drives fit in there (regular HDD and SSD) and which ones you would recommend? Are there any incompatibilities in regards to SSDs?

Maybe try check your current SSD's health with SSDlife and check alignment with AS SSD benchmark first (GOOD in green, or BAD in red).

The SSDs that the VGN-Z used to come with from factory all are stripped down 1.8 inchers. The only instance you get a 2.5 inch boot-storage device is when you CTO (or buy from Sony direct) a HDD model.

So saying that, no, the MMDOE56G5MXP-0VB you mentioned is not the original drive your VGN-Z590 came with from the factory.

In regards to the hang though. Have you tried a clean install, and have you installed the Intel Matrix Storage Console? Not sure if that makes a difference, but it does manage and checks on the status' of all logical drives attached to the laptop.
