    Hi all.

I'm interested in this laptop chiefly for its matt Vaio Premium Display, but I also need i7-quad & a space for a second hard drive...so this looks a good option.

    A coupla questions, please:

    0) is the panel also affected by Orangegate?

    1) is it safe to assume that the screen and the rest of the body exactly the same is as the VPC-F21Z1E/BI ? I ask because the F21's display got a really positive review here. Seems the only difference is 2670qm vs 2630qm and GT540m 2GB vs 1GB.

Is that right or am I missing something?

    2) the review does have one slightly negative feedback about the display: namely that it's black value isn't the best. Any further comment on that from owners? Any photo/video guys using this display?

    3) is the SATA-slot for the main hard drive SATA-III? I plan to put an Intel Series 520 SSD in there.

    4) a second har drive is essential. Has anyone replaced their BluRay drive for a second hard drive? I know you probably need a caddy, but what is the connector? If SATA, is it also SATA-III?

    5) What is the maximum RAM? I know 1333Mhz is the maximum speed of the RAM sticks, but I'm not sure of the first 4GB slot is non-removable. If so then maybe the maximum RAM is 12GB (1x4GB + 1x8GB).

    6) Is the WLAN adaptor onboard removable? I'd eventually like to try a Bigfoot 1103.

    7) any owners of the F21 or F23 who can comment on the supposed poor craftmanship of the body?

    8) is the 3D function almost worthless for modern games seen as the GT540M was already an average card when the F21 first came out? I guess we'd need to set the quality settings to average and resolution to medium. Probably older games from 2005-2010 perform better, but then they likely didn't have a full-HD or HD+ resolution back then anyway. What are your experiences?

    Thanks in advance :)

no need to answer now...i've decided on a G74SX, which seems superior in all respects apart from processor (the same) and arguably screen (perhaps better up/down viewing angles and wider colour gamut with the Sony).

I think Sony are overdue a successor to the 3D-enabled F21/23. A power-saving 3612qm, Kepler GTX-600m, better body and space for a second hard drive combined with the Vaio Premium IPS display would have made me pick Sony.
