    Update:

I have another Z2 on the way and will post comparison videos later this week. The driver are still utter garbage for the Z2 and PMD, but this will be the most accurate comparison to date. Stay tuned.

    Hello,

I have received several requests for videos from people asking about the gains received from the bios hack. In my opinion, we are extremely lucky to have this option available to us and continues to give the Z1 dominance in the 13" laptop arena. We are talking about a 13" laptop at 2.9 lbs with one of the best screens on the market. (Also having Blu-Ray, Mobile Broadband and Quad SSD options)

I have no issues with my workflow as I still get 3 hours with speed mode and standard battery. Obviously, gaming kills the battery, but 1:30 hours of gaming at Starbucks (With these games) has never been so fun! If I need to work throughout the day, I just reboot into stamina mode, and I get great battery results for a PC. The large cap battery solves my marathon days and trips. These are on sale at Sony right now BTW along with the leather sleeve and bag.

These videos are processing right now, but will be up in about 30 minutes.

I forgot to run Game Booster 3 that adds a few more FPS and helps push things further. I have placed notes on each game.

Street Fighter IV AE - Game Booster 3 - 1920x1080p No V-Sync, AA or Particles - Everything else maxed 76 FPS - Flawless

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHXWsly_m1g

    Black Op's - Game Booster 3 - 1366x768 @ 60FPS

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9SY9IoOlTs

Resident Evil 5 - Have not tested with Game Booster 3 -

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4e7TlAW23Sw

I can do more videos upon request. These videos should answer any questions about the increase in gaming performance.

Thanks to all members here at NBR that helped make this happen!

Thanks for the uploads. Recently got myself a z13 and still learning about its potential!

How long does it last on stamina, with your bios hack set up?

In stamina, I get the same battery life as your Z in stamina. No changes there.

    Thanks.

I am not too impressed with the switchable system Sony have done with the Z, so definitely interested in the alternatives/improving the situation.

Have you tried to Deus Ex on it?

This seems to play well on my z13 but was wondering how much of a boost it would get on your set up.

Is the performance significantly better compared to when you're using the latest cooked up Hybrid drivers? I've got the BIOS hack installed, but on static mode I can't get the Intel driver to install, and the automatic brightness won't work at all...

Stupid question but you are trying to install the Intel driver when you are booted in Stamina mode right?

    Yeah of course :p

Is there any specific order in which you should uninstall the Hybrid driver and start using Static etc to get it all to work properly?

IDK, it has been so long since I've used a hybrid. I have clean installed probably 10 times since then. I just clean install, then install the latest drivers.

You should be able to install the Intel stuff if you completely remove the hybrid drivers though, what error do you get?

Also try removing the driver from device manager and check "delete driver for this device"

Have not tried that game yet. I think I have ADD too much for a game like that. Forget about Starcraft! ;)

Ah. Pretty good game, sure you don't want to? ;)

Seeing as you got the Z2 now, how do you think the Z1's 330m does against the Z2's gpu in terms of performance?

Wondering how well it works in a PMD set up

Looks like a cool thread, thanks for posting.

    Question though:

How do I enable this hack and what is the downside/tradeoff?

    Thanks!
