    @guho

    He has an older C2D VAIO Z, and he already has WWAN on board, he may need to get a daughter-board with SIM... or he may just need to locate the SIM slot.

    Parts for the older Z are readily available on eBay. like this one SONY VAIO VGN-Z SERIES WWAN HSDPA SIM BOARD IFX-498 | eBay

    I don't know if there even was a VGN-Z without SIM, I am not very familiar with that model. Maybe a VGN-Z owner could chime in here.

    @CCboy, that ebay link for the IFX-498 daughter card looks like the same one I found in my Z790. However mine doesn't have a SIM slot so I'll have to get one soldered on.

    I have a lot of respect for you hacker types. I'm really not cut out for this type of thing. I probably spent the last 5 or 6 hours just getting the stupid card out and cursed Sony every minute of it. I can think of no valid reason the darn thing should be locked in the first place (except to squeeze even more money out of us through a cozy arrangement with Verizon). Gee, thanks Sony.

    Another question: will that OneClickInternet software work on my Gobi even though I have the older Z? It should be the same Gobi 2000 card after all.

    And yes, it was the hacked firmware for the Option expresscard I was originally looking for. The one on your site installed like a charm. Funny how the official one won't work and Option refuses to help because the ATT version I have is not one of their "standard" products.

    Well you could solder one on... or you could just buy that one off ebay and swap it...

    Is your Option ExpressCard locked? I use AT&T but I'd love you unlock my Option card anyway, for possible future travels. If you unlocked yours, where/how did you do it?

    IDK if OneClickInternet will work on your Z, why don't you just try it? You can do that without soldering anything, let us know how it works out.

    I bought the expresscarf unlocked from Newegg for $40 a couple of yrs ago. I just c.hecked and they don't have it anymore. Also did a quick google for a no cost unlock solution but didn't see anything, except to call ATT for it. I presume you've already tried that. Next best thing might be a used unlocked one off ebay. Might be cheaper than paying for an unlock code, especially if you can offload your locked one.

    I'll try the oneclick as soon as I can put my computer back together.
