fyi 2 days ago I did the fully recovery -
Here my last report and this time I had my photo camera ,
look this:

I see that you've been trying to find a solution for this for a little while. I have moved some of your posts on this into your own thread as i think you should start your own thread on this problem that you're having.
-
Hello Rachel.....
I just see that your created a SUPER TT .........nice! I am sorry that I sold my TT.
well ..........since last year I have randomly this freezing / shutdown and automatically restart .............honestly I didn't care it since some week ago when I lost an Ebay auction just last 10 seconds for this problem.
I also did try the full recovery and again..........
thank you for moving my post -
again and again..........

It could be a hardware problem, such as a problem with the memory. I'd recommend you run a hardware diagnostic - there's one included in Vaio Care.
-
Thank you Ashers for trying to help me ,
but I did it so many many times and last month I also did the fully restore as brand new from factory and after 2 days again same problem, I disconnected the power cord I positioned the switch to stamina and I switch on the laptop than appear the magic screen as per my previous attached photo. -
When you ran the hardware diagnostic...you didn't get any errors?
-
If you've done a full factory reset of the PC and still have the problem, then I guess it has to be hardware error - otherwise everyone would have the same problem!! I see in your sig that you say "8GbRam upgraded". Have you tried restoring the hardware to original factory state? i.e. just leaving in the RAM that came with the PC. Perhaps the new RAM you put in is not 100% compatible.

There's a Windows Memory Diagnostic program (which I didn't know about before). You can find it by searching for it under the "Start" menu. I would also try with just one RAM stick for a while and see if the problem shows up again.
Are the RAM sticks matched? Did you buy both of them at the same time, or did you add the second one later and if so is it a different brand?
Also, when you check the Reliability Monitor (Search for "reliability"), did any event show up indicating possible causes? -
Hello ota-con
unfortunately no errors in the report........
Hello Ashers,
that would be possible but I think not because the rams coming from my previous Vaio VGNZ .
Hello TofuTurkey,
the rams coming from my previous Vaio VGNZ with 4gbx2 and they are original ,
I can try to use one ram for some day and than add. the second one ,
and the below is the report :

Hi,
I had a smiliar problem.
While using my laptop, it'll turn off suddenly (without shutting down). Sometimes, it will power up again... sometimes not. I would never get the blue screen though.
I did a factory reformat and reinstalled the OS, same problem.
Took my laptop apart actually, and it turned out that the thermal pad had literally disintegrated. The thermal paste weren't in good shape either.
Apparently, these only have a shelf life of a few years. On top of that, I play heavy 3D games, so it must have accelerated the burn-out.
I cleaned everything out and reapplied Artic Silver paste and swiped a thermal pad from another laptop.
Now, the problem has gone away, the laptop is SO much quieter, and my games run a lot faster
Hope we have the same problem..
(BTW, extracting the fan, cleaning out and removing the factory thermal pads / paste on the CPUs / GPU is not a walk in the park. ) -
-
I think it is not the thermal problem because I have this problem since last year and I don't play any games.......I just use the laptop with Visio and other drawing staff ....
what I start to believe is the rams problems as I changed them since I have this laptop . -

Edit: Did you run the memory diagnostic test:
"There's a Windows Memory Diagnostic program (which I didn't know about before). You can find it by searching for it under the "Start" menu. I would also try with just one RAM stick for a while and see if the problem shows up again." -
please let me know if you see something wrong.........
thank you again -
You should post a pic of the CPU-Z prog. when you're viewing the SPD tab - that contains useful info

here the SPD tab slot 1 and 2,

in the past I also did many times the memory diagnostic and just in case I redone it again and also by today I am using only one ram stick.

It looks like the RAM specs should be ok...
You tried with either RAM? Both crashed?
Did you try rubbing the metal connectors on the RAM? Sometimes old contacts oxidize and that can cause random issues, so it may help to clean those contacts.
The other thing I can think of is that there is some other device attached to the system that has problems, e.g. a mouse or external drive. Can you try disconnecting everything else and run the machine?
Edit: I read the first few posts and I'm wondering if the GPU is faulty. Can you switch it to run on Stamina mode only, and see if it still crashes? -
with stamina also crashed and right now I am in stamina and I did placed back the ram but I did the test with only one unit............last week I spend some minute remotely with the sony support he show me the google chrome as an error so now I unistalled it and place Explorer as defult .......honestly I don't know what else to do.....maybe AVG ? -
TofuTurkey Married a Champagne Mango
I don't like Windows in general but I have to say Windows 7 is quite stable. I tend to think it's not as likely an application will crash the machine.
Did you try all the suggestions? Did you open the reliability report and see if there's any event recorded? Did you try removing all accessories like mouse etc.?
If you've tried everything everyone suggested, then I guess the problem is with the hardware, somewhere... -
here is the report..please let me know if I can do something in order to find out the problem ,
thanks a lot for your help

If you restored the hard drive to its factory state and it crashed before you installed any additional software, I can't see how it can be a software issue.
If you have the time, I would recommend trying the pc with one stick of ram in it for a couple of days. If it crashes the same way, try the same but just with the other stick of ram. If in either case, it doesn't crash, you know the culprit. If it crashes with the other stick, given it's unlikely both memory sticks are dodgy, I would think it's the motherboard/GPU or something.
Is it still under warranty? If it is, maybe you can send back to sony for them to look at (though you may need to get hold of the original ram). -

Did you click on some of the 'Actions', like 'View Technical Details' or check for solutions? Did any of those provide any clues as to what is wrong? -
I also think you should send it to Sony.
-
anyway at this point I think that the best think to to is to send this laptop to Sony.

anyway yesterday I have been again chatting with sony support and finally he suggested me to fill up the repair form , right now I am in Europe for vacation so next months I'll do it ...... -
Attached Files:
-
-
sure looks like bad/incompatible ram to me.
-
anyway at this point better give the laptop to Sony as the fellows members of this forum suggested me .........in a month i'll be back to US so I can give the laptop to them. -
Do you have international warranty service?
If you do maybe you can have local Sony have a look at your laptop. -
-
than I asked about the last shutdown details "Disable the Bios memory such as caching and shadowing ",
well .....he told me just to place the bios in default and I did it.
since this afternoon my laptop is a normal laptop ..........except before one thing happen for the first time .........I left the laptop switched on in speed position and I went for dinner ...after 10 minutes it went on stamina and the screen turned in blue and the fan started to run like crazy, the keyboard was useless and I had turning off the laptop.
what is it? -
April 13,
yesterday April 12 I did read couple pages of an old forum and I did some driver changing
to my NVIDIA and from NVIDIA version 8.16.11.9024 I placed the 8.16.11.8880 ,
I have also unistalled my microsoft bluetooth mouse + again the bios default + vaio one click care and in the evening I left the laptop in auto mode running and getting some update like the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (KB2285068) and I went to rest....
this morning I checked what happened last night and it did shout down normally after the windows update.........
so today I'll cross fingers and lets see what will happen. -
This is a GPU issue,
the sonys that have stamina/performance buttons have 2 different GPUs one higher end for the performance that eats the battery and the other that is not has powerful but plays nice with the battery. As someone else suggested update the video driver for both the video "cards" (i am not sure about the VPC-Z series but i know on the VGN-SZ series one is Nvidia and the other is a intel chip) if that does not work and the computer is still within the warranty call Sony and send it in for repair.

I'll do it once I'll be back to US,
since yesterday morning it is working good but I have it in auto and also today I'll leave it working in auto........than from tomorrow I'll move the switch to speed and see what will happen.
thank you again for your kind information -
Working perfectly! Sony replaced the cooling system .......finally!
-
Hi Pink Panter,
this behaviour sounds quite familiar to me. See:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/son...em-lock-up-due-power-management-settings.html
I think we should share our experiences about those issues. Right now I am to tired to read all posts. I'll do that tomorow.
Where are you from, Europe? -
yes Europe.....
Tomorrow i'll read your issue and see what happen ........by the way I think that many other got the same problem with it . -
Yes, Sir!
Do you have NVIDIA GeForce GT 330?
I'll try to read your thread today. -
also I just finish reading what you post in the other forum and I can say that your situation is very close to my .
I had problems with all 3 modes ...stamina/speed and auto ......in stamina mode I had your same situation and with the others two i had blue screen and shut down with automatically restart and this used happen even 4 times 5 times in one day and doing the system restore is just loosing time .
and about the wwan I have an US unit and I replaced the VZAccess Manager with the OneClick Internet and I have a similar issue to your , if I leave the start up application open than I get the message that the application is not working properly but if I minimize the startup application this problem is over .....
my suggestion is " send your laptop to Sony" ..............for sure they will tell you to try to repair it by a remotely connection with some of their technician and after they will tell you to send the unit to their repair center.
let us in this forum updated
good luck
