    Hi everyone,

I need some help with my notebook i believe its the EA series and ive tried to search the forum to no avail before posting a question.

I recently formatted my vaio due to a bad virus which for some reason would not allow me to make recovery discs. i bought a genuine copy of win7 professional. I'm having difficulty is installing drivers.

windows adviser is telling me that i need to install the SFEP driver but its already installed and showing in device manager.

i also cant find drivers for the motion eye webcam :( dev manager only shows as a usb 2.0 webcam. I've managed to install the intel system drivers, update bios, got the volume keys working, vaio care. my brightness buttons don't work anymore either.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    thank you in advance.

    kind regards,
    Mr.V

try this link for any drivers you might be missing , i think from memory you need a couple of other drivers after the sfep one ie systems utility series (theres an order i think)
as for the brightness buttons mine didnt work when i reformatted till id put the ati cat drivers on for thee graphics card.hope
the webcam i never installed anything for just downloaded skype to test it and it worked

just remembered when you try to install something like power management it will ask if you have installed the following first, that list is in the correct order , so check that all the things on the list you have install.

Is Win 7 Pro what came on th on the notebook or are you trying to upgrade?
If the same OS, then simply hit F10 when the computer is booting to enter the Recovery partition and restore your laptop to factory state.
Order of drivers is critical on Sony laptops, they will have a generic order of drivers (covers ll model) on their FAQs page that will tell you the order to use, then based on your model you install in that order.
    PS welcome to NBR

Hi there, thats link ive been using to get the drivers ive installed most of them but in a random order as i downloaded them, but none of them mention the webcam drivers. one peice of software said it couldnt recognise the battery lol

    Hi J&SinKTO,

First of thank you for the welcome. the laptop came with Win 7 Home and i ended up formatting the entire 500gig and creating 2 partitions one for windows the other for files.

thank for the guide ill have a look at the FAQ regarding the order of installation. can i delete all the drivers and then reinstall in correct order or am i looking at doing a clean install of windows?

p.s. i tried to look on the sony website for order of installing drivers, with no luck. do you know where i can find the info. many thanks

Having been down the path of not installing the drivers in the right order, the notebook worked, but I had the same issues you listed above.
You really need to re-do the fresh install.
    Here's the instructions from Sony:

You're welcome - hope you get your laptop up and running. I know it works well (the order) use it on multiple Sony laptops I have.
