Not my strong point here, but does your hard disc activity light come on? Do you hear/feel it spinning up? Is there any screen activity whatsoever? If so, please detail. Do you have recovery discs for your model? What happens when you try to power on with them in the CD drive? If you cannot get the CD drive to open, you can insert the end of a paperclip in the hole nea the eject button and the disc tray should pop out (if it loads that way).

Try hitting F2 when you see the BIOS flash screen and run in safe mode. What did ti do last time you had it running? Any hardware/driver updates? AV/Malware protection up to date?
Need a bit more info to assist.

I can hear the fan turn on and the cd drive can open if i press it. Nothing happens on the screen at all. I don't know much about computers but ask me and I'll try to answer. I tried hitting F2, nothing happened. I think I was installing an update last time I used it and when I came back it was off and this happened.

Well that could explain it, I guess, since you're BIOS splash screen (VAIO) isn't even coming up. So, I've got no clue how to help you, but you're a bit closer in knowing where the problem is. Search for problems with BIOS updates. Are you in warranty? Is tech support still available to you?

You definitely should call tech support so they can try to help you get through this. If this was a Sony update from either VAIO Update or the eSupport website for your model, then they better get on it and help you fix it.

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it but do you think the recovery disk would help? I don't want to go to too much trouble calling Sony if it can be fixed If I find the disk :p
    Thanks again though :)

If you can't get into Safe mode and don't see the BIOS splash screen, you won;t be able to get into the recovery DVDs.
Try one other option - hit F10 while it is just starting (That will get you into the hidden partition recovery console on the Hard drive).
Maybe (have my doubts) it will allow you to recover. If this was doing a BIOS update and something went wrong - Sony Support is about your only solution.

Agreed, however, the F10 or ASSIST buttons will only work if the machine can get past BIOS. It's a quick thing to try. If it doesn't work, get on the phone with Sony.
