I have a VAIO (VPCF11390X) with windows 7 professional and I can't get the free windows 10 upgrade to work. I have tried both the ISO install and the download and both abort with generic error messages. When using windows update I get the error code- C190011F.

Last night I spent over 3 hours with MS support doing things I had already done. In the end, I was told should repair my Windows 7 installation. They said I should download the windows 7 ISO and do an upgrade in-place. That is an upgrade to Windows 7 over the top of the existing windows 7. To download, I had to enter my product key and I get a message that my copy is OEM supplied and I can't get a copy from MS.

I have the restore disk with the VAIO but I don't see an option to upgrade in-place - only startup repairs and restore points.

Any advice on how I can I fix my windows 7 installation? (I am not really sure it's the problem).

Microsoft offered to give me a windows 10 version with a key for a fresh install. I am not sure this would work with the VAIO. Any input? I don't really want a clean install where I have to reinstall my programs.

I would get the key off microsoft regardless if i were you.
After win 10 upgrade, you would retain your personal files but I dont think you will still have your programs (so will have to reinstall anyway)
