I have a Sony VAIO VPC-F1290X. It has a Marvell Yukon 88E8057 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter. Connecting an ethernet cable that works in another computer from the same CAT5 jack shows as Media Disconnected. Plugging in a USB Ethernet adapter that works on another computer shows as Media Disconnected. Both the ethernet jack on the computer and this USB wired ethernet adapter worked on this laptop in the past. I've been using wireless for a good year now, but need a wired connection now and can't get it to work. Wireless works fine. TCP/IPv4 is set to obtain addresses automatically. The same lack of wired connection occurs both at home and in the office. Somehow, I think that the lack of wired connectivity in both the built-in ethernet jack and the USB adapter I have is connected, but I don't know how. Any Suggestions?
