Hi, I just installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 on my Sony VPCF115FM laptop, and I was wondering what I need to install to get the brightness control to work. I already tried the video drivers, shared library, and notebook utilities from this site:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VPCF115FM&LOC=3
But nothing seems to affect the brightness, even though I do see the brightness bar now when I press the appropriate keys.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

is it always dim? or do you get it to go dark/bright by the light sensor?
if you installed genuine Intel HD drivers you need to start from scratch and just install the ones from the sony site. -
Ah. Well I have a discrete card, so I reinstalled Sony's Nvidia drivers and that did the trick. I think Windows Update may have overridden or preemptively installed a different version.
Thanks, BB. -
if you install any drivers other than sony the brightness sensor is Fubared
