    Hi Everyone,

After all sleepless nights I have managed to get the whole VAIO VPCSA functions operating well after a clean install of Windows 8.

Except for the webcam. There are no drivers for Motion Eye Webcam from Sony for windows 7 or 8 in their support site and the default windows 8 drivers from microsoft (usb 2.0 camera) are not working.

This looks to be a common problem and all those upgraded to win 8 have lost their camera functionality. Applying the ricoh firmware update from sony support site does not help either.

Other manufacturars like lenovo are adressing this issue with their beta drivers but as usual no news from Sony.

My device ID shows as: USB\VID_05CA&PID_18C0&REV_0731

I have downloaded at least 20 files which are for old ricoh or sony motion eye webcams but they will not install and windows insists that the latest driver is installed (although it does not work)

Can someone please guide me towards a win 7 x64 driver for a VPCSA motion eye camera. It should work in compatibility mode but I can't seem to get my hands on it. An export from a win7 x64 computer should also work.

I'll appreciate if someone can save me from my misery :(

    Thank you in advance.

I imagine this isn't very helpful, but at least to possibly give you some hope: I upgraded my VPCSE to Windows 8 and also the webcam wasn't being identified. I applied the Ricoh Camera Firmware Update and also saw no change after restart. I added this problem to the list of things I need to fix after the upgrade, and came back to it a few days later, only to find that the camera was identified and appears to be working. Not sure what happened or how long it will last, however.

That said, have you tried contacting Sony Support directly? That was my plan if the camera still wasn't working; I've done it in the recent past regarding other WIN8 drivers with some success.
