Hi everyone, I have a VPCSA and for some reason since i've upgraded to windows 8, whenever the screen is suppose to dim due to inactivity it actually brightens up the screen a little...

I tend to use my laptop on the lowest brightness so the brighten is quite noticeable, however when the screen is on full brightness it will dim a little. So it seems that the dimming function is kinda screwed and calibrated to a slightly higher level than lowest brightness for dim.

Does anyone know how i can overcome this??

Weird. Maybe the upgrade messed something up. Go into power options (right click the battery icon in your system tray) and click 'restore default settings for this plan' next to the plan you want to change. Select each plan in turn and repeat. Once the problem is fixed, you can change the settings to your preference.

It seems as if that did the trick!! Thanks. Can't believe that i didnt do that before. Only issue know is that it doesn't dim at near max brightness, but thats fine for now, i probably don't use it at that high.

    Thanks.

EDIT: So it seems like it happened again. It was fine for a while and now it happened again, i might reinstall windows this time instead of upgrade win 7 and see if that will help anything.

Try fiddling with the VAIO Control Center too. I totally agree with you though - a clean install is always better than an upgrade.
