Hi Guys,
After hours of reading the web, I see more and more people having troube with brokens RAID 0 configurations because one of their 128GB ssd is dying. I have the exact same scenario. I phoned SONY but the extremely intelligent 19 years old support girl, with the standard troubleshooting menu card, suggested me to reinstall windows by using the recovery partition. I asked if they had anything on dead ssd's or faulty raid controllers which she denied. Then I hung up.
I found this cable
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-HDD-Har...7EC-FPC-239-/271518553132?hash=item3f37c4542c
I believe it will fit the laptop, but now I'm looking for a disk to give it a try.
In the BIOS I can only select RAID0, so I'm unsure what will happen when it only sees one drive.?
Am I completely wrong here, or should I give it a go? I'm happy with the size of the computer and has worked well for 3 years..
Any help is greatly appreciated, and if you have a suggestion for a ssd I would be glad.!

In your BIOS, under the Advanced section, do you have an option to show the RAID configuration? On the Z2/SVZ bios, we have it. Once set to show, you can go into the Intel RAID config by hitting Control-I during boot up and settings up whether or not you want RAID or not within that config. I believe someone else tried that cable here with no success. I recently purchased a 512gb drive from http://www.ebay.com/itm/191145190045?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT for my SVZ. I offered $220 which he accepted.

Hi Qwaarjet,
Thanks a million for your reply. I can enter the CTRL+I menu, but I can't select anything else but RAID0. :-(
The cable is pretty cheap, and I have another PC where the ssd can go if it's not working in my VAIO, so I might give it a go.
If unsuccessful, I will probably have to go for a 128GB "MZRPC LIF SSD" type drive. -
I just tried unplugging one of the disks. Seems to work. I'm unsure, but maybe the original disk setup is made from four 64Gb disks?
It's a MZRPA128HMCO.. Well, i guess I will give it a test drive to see if I found the faulty disk. If so, I might just buy a similar 128GB disk on ebay.
Dones anyone happen to know if the Intel controller itself can be broken and cause errors like this?? -
yeah, the 128's are dual 64's and 256 are dual 128's and so on. I have a single 512gb ssd which are dual 256's. Didn't know the SA's actually had two separate drives. I have a spare MZRPA128HMCO if you want it.

Ok, yes they do. Years ago, I had a raid 0 setup on a desktop computer with an EPOX motherboard. It gave me so many sleepless nights I swore I never would do raid 0 again. But looking at a OEM Sony quality laptop, I got tempted again. I guess that won't happen again :-\
I would be interested in your MZRPA128, and also a cable if you have one? The problem is I live in Denmark, and I guess you are in the US?
I do however have colleagues living and working in the US, travelling back and forth quite often.
They are located in Chicago. -
I don't have an extra cable though, I have the MZRPA128 spare only because I upgraded my wife to a 256gb drive in her Vaio Z2. I don't think there's any reason mailing to Denmark should be an issue, no? Send me either address and I'll send it over to either Denmark or Chicago.
VPCSA2Z9E new SSD trying to avoid RAID0..
