Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and I hope you can give me a hand.. since sony support is not answering me ):

As stated in the objec I have a Sony Vaio VPCSA3J1E, which is a really great laptop.

I changed SO to Win 7 64x, but formatting caused to lose many functionalities, such as webcam, the Stamina-Speed switch, and the second functions of the F1-F12 buttons (brightness, connecting to a projector, zoom and so on).

Lurking around in some forum, some information led me to understand that drivers and update that can be found on the sony support site ( Sony : Assistenza per VPCSA3J1E/XI | Assistenza tecnica per VPCSA3J1E/XI ) need to be installed in a very precise order, in order to restore all the functions. Could it be true?

Anyway, can you explain to me how should I do to reinstall Win7 and have my laptop capabilities back?

    Thank you so much!

yes, you need SONY Firmware Extension Parser and SONY Shared Libraries. after that, you need SONY's graphics drivers to make the SPEED-STAMINA switch to work properly.

Some people report that explicit reinstalling the FEPS and Shared Libs did not solve their problems (I suppose these are actually the Win8 users doing a clean install, but not sure). Checking the Device Manager, there are two unidentified devices (snya008 - Sony Wireless State and sny5001 - the extension parser).

    The solution here was:
    - Extract the install packages of Sony FEPS and Shared Lib
    - Via Device Manager, select the unidentified device and explicit load/point-to the driver INF which has been uninstalled from the packages

You're saying "do this after a clean windows install", right? Because when trying to solve the problem myself, I already installed the Sony FEPS and Shared Lib, even if it didn't change anything. And might be for this reason that I do not have those two unidentified devices ...

    thanks for your reply!

Same question goes for you darxide: only after a clean install do this? before installing ANY other driver?

I can't wait to restore my laptop as it was and create backup disks through vaio care ..

Ok guys. I actually made it by installing this 4 fellas here:

    - vaio control center

    - vaio settings utility

    - vaio event service

    - sony shared library

    an rebooting whenever prompted.

Yup, and it's explicit about Windows 8. Not Windows 7. They tried to install FEPS+Shared Lib via the usual installer, but for some reason it didn't solved it completely.

I didn't have this problem myself (I did clean install of Windows 7), but when I read your comments regarding unidentified devices, I remembered something I read somewhere else before.
Just thought it might be useful to drop that info here too.
