I was using NVIDIA tool to overclock the gpu.

before the fresh restore of Windows 7 from recovery partition, I was able to overclock the memory clock to 890.

but the max possible setting is reduced to 840 now..

changing nvidia graphics driver did not do anything..

    My max is also 840:

Which tool do you use? For NVIDIA Inspector, I can unlock the min and max, though I've never done that...

I'm not sure where the program gets the min and max values: is it from the chip itself, or the program uses a file with all that info? If it's from the chip, it must mean it was updated. If from the program's file, then that program must have been updated. I'm not sure Windows plays a role here (??)

I am using EVGA Precision ver. 1.94 and ver. 1.95

I am able to max the memory clock to about 1120 [mhz] using 1.94.
however, when i am using 1.95 and nvidia tool, it only shows 840 in the both program.

and with the 1.94, set at core 575, mem 890, I get 6.5 for Windows Experience Index. so, i guess it is working.

I am not sure why it is showing two different max clocks in one laptop with different tools and ver.

    Thanks for your reply.

Sounds like it's an issue with the tool then, perhaps it was updated to handle GT330M properly...

Edit: Did you buy from EVGA? If so, you can ask them why :) Perhaps there's something new they can tell us about the GPU...

You do know that 840MHz is multiplied x2 to give you the real freq? It seems (IMO) 890MHz is a little high to me, considering how Sony likes to undervolt AND underclock. 840MHz is still high, but it sounds better.
