    Hi

I have received a screen replacement estimate from sony for my VPCZ1 laptop model VPCZ115GG and it is roughly double what I was expecting.

The LCD is broken. According to the manual part number A-1769-474-A
    Description LCD LT131EE12000 (S) [13.1/A-HD_HDAR/BR_LED100%uv_BP]

And the price on the parts website https://www.servicesplus.sel.sony.com/PartsPlusResults.aspx?stype=parts# is $429.92

This is my quote I have already put £60 down for them to look at it.

    Parts charge £590.84
    Labour £100
    total £690.84

This is pretty much what I was hoping to sell the unit for. Do you think they have quoted me for the full HD screen?

What should I do any advice. Its an insurance claim but it was only covered up to £300, and my original guestimate from the Sony Tottenham court rd store was £350.

I have sent an email complaining about the higher cost and for them to check its not the Full HD screen. They are asking over double the price of the part.

That will be my option now, if they come back unable to reduce the price. As it was an insurance claim I wanted it to be done professionally, and I was claimed up to £300 so thought it would be easy.

Obviously not. Plus I did get in contact with the seller you highlight and he told me I had to open the laptop up to be sure which model I needed as he quotes different parts numbers to sony, so I was hesitant to open it. Now at £690 I will be getting my laptop back and cracking it open asap, if they don't get close to £350. I wonder if I can get the £60 inspection fee back.

They have got back to me not going to lower their price so I have asked for my £60 back and the laptop.
