Hi. Sorry for the dual-topic thread, but I thought this might be answered in one fell swoop.
1) I've determined that my LCD board probably has an open circuit. The screen has one or two vertical lines that sometimes can be made to go away, temporarily, by applying pressure to the area where the board sits (at the bottom). I opened it up recently, unscrewed the board (also reseated the connector), and found that I could actually get rid of the lines by carefully repositioning the board. Now a line is back. I also noticed that the plastic sheet that (I think) attaches the board to the screen itself seems to be delaminating. Anyway, I'm wondering if there might be trick to fix this screen by carefully applying some heat, or something similar, or if I should just get a new one.
2) The reason for my screen being the way it is, I'm sure, is that a while ao I took a dive on my bike with my laptop (in soft case) inside my backpack. The corner of the keyboard/palmrest cover, where the power button is, got mushed. I bent things back in place enough to get it working again, but I'm wondering whether I can replace just the cover, or would need an entirely new assembly (with keyboard and palmrest). It seems like so much is held together with fabric or tape and adhesive. Has anyone every successfully disassembled and reassembled the keyboard/palmrest assembly?
TIA for any advice, experience with similar issues
