    VPCZ11 HDD replacing DVD drive will not spin down

    So finally I replaced the DVD drive on my VPCZ11 with a Seagate Momentus 7200RPM 16 Meg cache HDD using the newmodeus drive caddy.


    However, it seems that most of the time, the hard drive will not spin down, even when there is no application running off it...Anyone got any ideas as to why this is happening? I can really feel it affecting battery life...

    Did you check advanced settings of power plan? You can set idle time before hard disk turns off there.
