I got a little bit problem with my Sony VPCZ129GG, sometimes when i am doing some office document using Microsoft Office 2010 with opera browser and windows media player, sometime the windows media player will freeze and i must restart it while the opera and office will stop responding and after 5-6 seconds it will work again. I tried both speed and stamina mode. with and without adapter. With and without external devices like mouse. No docking station.
Edit1: i just see something wrong

can anyone help me please

I have 8GB and Windows shows 7.68GB usable. I believe 256MB is allocated for the onboard graphics.
First thing is to run the Windows Memory Diagnostic. It can take quite a while and does not provide any feedback while running. When it is done, the system reboots, then you can see the results in Event Viewer. -
tried your way but i decided to backup all my data and format it now it is 7.68GB usable, but still a bit freezing.
how about this? is this normal? or should i take it to sony?

I doubt this has anything to do with your problem but...
My Dell Mini 9 with a first generation RunCore SSD would occasionally freeze for 5-10 seconds, especially when in IE. I always attributed this to the controller on the SSD moving blocks around to find space for new data, causing a pause while the SSD serviced the write request. I'm surprised this would happen with a newer generation SSD. I've read that the Z12 uses a different SSD manufacturer now (Toshiba versus the old Samsung.)
Have you modified or updated any drivers, especially the Intel RST driver? Are you running the included Norton AV software? -
hmm... i bought the NIS2010 for my computer
for RST i used the latest one 9.6.4.1002
while in hdtune 4.50 i can see the graphic lower to 200mb/s sometime...
my ssd is the samsung one
and the worst is the disk transfer rate decreased from 7.9 to 7.6
note: i will be away until 7/8 August 2010 -
I have experienced this sorta thing but it only happens when I am changing windows while doing simultaneous task such as having many windows open, IE browser, music playing in the background, converting some music files.
I guess the workload is too high for the processor and hard drive to handle that causes this 5-6 second "freeze" bottom line is: this is a dual core, not quad core. my dual core desktop chokes too. -
I see something like that too. Seems like it most often happens while Aero is showing thumbnails of running apps.

If my system hangs for 5-6 seconds, I would be completely pissed
Is there someway to profile the system to figure out which application or driver is freezing? I tend to think it's something kernel-related, like a driver. I don't think an app can cause the rest of the system to hang (though I won't be too surprised if that's possible). Especially with the multi-core, at least some CPU cycles should be available for other purposes... -
Me too
It was happening yesterday; I had an external SATA drive connected.
Hasn't happened today (yet); the external drive is off.
So it could have involved waiting for the drive to spin back up.
If I didn't have real work to do I'd spend more time tracking it down... -
How full is your drive? If you are running close to full then the SSD has a much harder time keeping up with its garbage collection duties.
Also, probably unrelated but, it's strange that you only have 5.14GB available out of 8GB. Usually the 8GB systems show 7.68GB usable. Are you doing something to set aside 2.5GB? -
-
Yes, I have a SIIG 2-port eSATA ExpressCard that uses the Silicon Image 3132 controller.

Just try this and see if it helps relocate your hidden RAM, I've been seeing lots of plp. complaining about this, and it happened to once after I completed a a thorough tweaking Process.
Start -> Run -> MSCONFIG
boot TAB -> ADVANCED
MAKE SURE THE CHECK BOX FOR (MAXIMUM MEMORY) IS UN-TICKED
UN-TICK IT IF ITS TICKED
REBOOT
AND LET ME KNOW YOU RESULTS.

I still see the freezes most often when I hover over the taskbar and Aero thumbnails are up. This is with the Intel graphics, external monitor via VGA-to-DVI converter and a Logitech Anywhere MX mouse. Need to run nVidia a while and try that, also switch to a wired mouse. -
It would help to know whether your disk is close to full. How full is your disk?
Also, what are you doing that windows shows only 5.14GB available instead of the normal 7.68GB?
