    Hey guys,

I recently went on a gaming hiatus and stopped playing pc games for a few weeks. I rarely even used speed mode; however, i tried playing some of my installed games earlier today and i found out my gpu cant even run mass effect 2 or skyrim anymore. The real kicker is that i switched to the intel chip and me2 was playable on lower resolutions, just not with the nvidia card. I use a hybrid nvidia 263.14 - intel 2281 driver.

I cant for the life of me figure out why this is because i used to play both games at full resolution with medium quality and now its too slow to play even on the lowest specs.

    Any ideas guys?

Does it actually switch to speed mode? Can you check with GPU-Z?

you know i have had this same problem.

I usually play sc2, and always ran it on medium, and ran great, one day it kinda started to lag a bit, and then suddenly a few days later it basically.. froze it was so slow. so i was forced to play it on lowest from then on.

i have not really tested any other high graphics games but that was quite disappointing.

i feel like it may have burn the gpu out or something.

Can you check the GPU and CPU temperatures - both while idle and during play - and see if either is overheating? Both have self throttling features to prevent them burning up. Maybe a good cleaning is all that's needed.

Re-run the Windows Experience index assessment and see if that offers a clue (note down the old readings first).

Let me share my experience on this:

Friend's Z13, worked for games until some point, when everything lagged. Tried everything, drivers, windows, tried a recovery, tried a clean install. Nothing helped. Sent it to Sony, don't really know wha they did. It fixed the problem for the few months, then came back. I called Sony again, said some words.

They came to take the PC, and replaced the MB completely. Free. I've now got a "new" 2yr old Z ^^.

FYI I had an HDD caddy inside as well, I just switched back to the DVD Drive for when they took it.
