After reinstalling windows 7 and downloading all the drivers and software updates, I still can't get the graphics switch to work nor the FN shortcut key so I have no way to finding out whether I'm using the integrated or denigrated graphics or able to control the display brightness using the FN+F5/F6 key.
When I say the switch doesn't, I mean the led light indicated switches lights up but I don't get a notification to confirming the mode has been changed. I've been trying to figure it out for the last few days to now avail.
Also the raid technology software has disappeared.

This thread might be of use:

but I have the same 7 professional 64bit professional installed.

Vaios require that utilities and drivers are installed in a certain order for the laptop to function properly. Especially stuff like function and hot keys. You'll have to search the owners forum and find the install order for your specific model. That thread that @anytimer posted is probably a good starting point.

S. Prime is right. There have been threads like that for every OS since, including the preinstalled OS. It is known as a 'clean install'.
Here's one for Windows 7: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/vaio-z-vpcz1-clean-install.467565/Primes likes this. -
