Hi,
I am trying to do a clean Windows 7 installation. I followed Sony recommended order for installing drivers and application, but I found VAIO Control Center freeze when selecting some menus such as Power Management -> Battery and it won't show the screen for the menu. Other menu like VAIO Power Management Viewer works fine.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Sony Notebook Utilities ( Sony eSupport - VPCZ1290X - Software Updates & Drivers) but that didn't fix anything.
Does anyone experience the same problem? Do any of you have solution for it?

this one will help you...
Sony eSupport - VPCZ1290X - Software Updates & Drivers -
Actually that didn't install with error message saying it is already installed. I found the following Sony Asia Pacific site which has all original drivers listed with exact order to install. That solved the problem. Something should be missing from US site.
Original Drivers and Applications for VPCZ12 Series (Windows 7 64-Bit) : Sony Asia Pacific
NOTE: Don't install Location service from here. It will make Vaio Update app talks to Asia Pacific site which won't recognize US Vaio model. Install one from US site.
VPCZ1290X - Some menus in Vaio Control Center don't work
