    I have realized that Ctrl-M shortcut doesn't work in Visual studio with my Vaio Z. So I wrote an application to check if the key code is even passed properly and found that Ctrl-M doesn't really get passed. All other keys works just fine with Ctrl key pressed, but when I press M with Ctrl pressed, the BIOS just doesn't send any key code to the application.

    In Vsual Studiio, Ctrl+M,M is used to toggle outlining and I found this is annoying. Does anyone have the same issue with their Z?

    ======================== Found the reason =======================
    It was Bing Bar. It started working after uninstalling it.

    Just for troubleshooting purposes does M work? Also is this affecting both Ctrl keys? I've never used Visual Studio, so i don't know if that's a problem, but i've never experienced a problem like that where a key(or a combination of keys) would not register... I did check if Ctrl-M works for me and my program did do what i mapped Ctrl-M does. Have you tried using Ctrl-M with other software?

    Hmm.. other software also doesn't recoganize Ctrl-M. As it works for you guys, I guess this might be some software that I have on system then.

    I will see if I can identify the issue then.

    lol Bing bar

    btw, Autohotkey, look into it. Lets you map/remap any shortcuts you want. I have about 20 going on but my biggies are Capslock minimize, alt-Capslock close, Win-S sleep, alt-click window dragging like linux, ctrl-alt-f format painter in office, etc etc. It also lets me map Win7 type goodies on my work WinXP laptop.

    I wonder why Bing Bar affected it... does Ctrl-M have anything to do with it?

    I tried pressing Ctrl-M everywhere to see which application hijacks the keycode and found that the focus moves to Bing bar in IE when I press it.

    I don't know why but it appears that the Bing bar consumes the keycode from the system level and eat it so other application won't be able to regognize it anymore.
