Hi there
I have a problem with my Sony VPCZ13M9E/B sound. All of the sudden I have no sound and get a "no audio device connected" and the card is not on device list in the device manager. I tried recovering my computer. No good gave me error 505:77 during Sony recovery session. To be honest now I am out of ideas and I really hope you guys can help me out.
Tried these drivers as well with absolutely no luck.

I had I similar issue. Resolved by taking the Z apart and checking the board at the front right corner where the audio / headphone jack is connected.

So let me get this strait just take the thing apart and check the connections in front right corner?

That what I did. I don't know what exactly cured the issue, but its a start. Sorry I can't offer more.

Update.
I installed two new 128GB SSD's in my Z today and can advise that the possible cause may be the small ribbon connector to the left hand side of the board. Mins looked a little loose so re-inserted it just to make sure. If that does not work you may be looking at a possible hardware failure.
Good luck. hope it helps. -

You can try a number of things:
1. Try restoring the system to factory settings or a backup (if you took one recently).
If the system restore does not work, then and your drivers are up to date, then it is most likely a hardware problem.
You could:
1. Open the system (make sure it does not void the warranty) and look for a loose ribbon cable as Carlos_milos said
2. If none of the ribbon cables appear to be loose then your sound card is probably faulty. In that case, you better send it to Sony.
My overall guess would be that either the drivers are messed up (in which case system restore might fix that by restoring the software to an earlier date) or the sound card is fried in which case it makes sense that you get the error message "no audio device connected".
However you say that you tried recovering your computer but did you reset to factory settings?
If so and it still doesn't work then you definitely have a hardware problem on your hands. -
Hi guys sorry for the late reply I will try this next week have a final on monday i need the computer for. As to your suggestions the only thing i haven't tried is taking the hing apart and checking the connections. Thanks for your help so far

Hi guys I have now tried checking the connections on the buttom right side and nothing was out of order. I called Sony to ask them for help and the suggested an BIOS update but apparently my BIOS is up to date so no luck there either. Guess next step is to send it to Sony and let them handle it. Thanks for the help so far
